Birchwood Veterinary Practice, like many other practices, has been affected by the national veterinary workforce shortage and, as such, we haven’t been able to recruit additional veterinary support for weekends. This has resulted in an increased workload for Mike and a lack of work-life balance, which many of you will appreciate, with a young family, is really important.

We have therefore taken the decision that from 1 March 2022 Birchwood Veterinary Practice will be closed on Sundays. You will be able to contact our usual out of hours emergency hospital service if your pet needs urgent advice or care on Sundays. Further details about the out of hours service can be found on our website. For all your routine consultations we have appointments available 6 days a week during our usual opening times.

We thank you for your understanding on this matter as we aim to continue working to our “Family vets for family pets” culture.

We are pleased to advise that with immediate effect we are happy to welcome clients back into the practice, as COVID-19 rules continue to relax. We still ask that all clients wear masks as part of the transition phase to face to face consultations. However, we also appreciate that not everyone will be comfortable with the relaxation of rules and, therefore, we will continue to collect your pet from your car if that is your preference. Please advise our reception team when you make the appointment.
